HP OpenView Storage Operations Manager is a comprehensive and efficient HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA) and SAN management solution. It provides a central management console from which EVAs and heterogeneous storage infrastructure devices (switches, HBAs, bridges) as well as (optionally) heterogeneous non-EVA storage, direct attached storage (DAS), Networked Attached Storage (NAS), and tape storage devices are automatically discovered, mapped, monitored, maintained and configured. HP OpenView Storage Operations Manager combines into a single offering EVA management using Command View EVA v3.2 and SAN management using the Storage Node Manager module from the HP OpenView Storage Area Manager v3.2 suite. HP OpenView Storage Operations Manager is required software to manage EVAs running with VCS 3.010 or later.

HP OpenView Storage Operations Manager allows for easy upgrade of optional HP OpenView Storage Area Manager modular software building blocks that offer additional integrated Enterprise Storage Resource Management (ESRM) capabilities for managing additional non-EVA storage, monitoring capacity utilization and optimization of storage performance from the same central console that is used for EVA and heterogeneous SAN management. With this release, HP is also supporting the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) Storage Management Initiative Specification (SMI-S) with a HP specific SMI-S provider for Enterprise Virtual Array.
